Continue to Concerning The Cross 2
The lessons goal is to help anyone with the desire to travel the journey to the cross with Jesus; and at the end of the journey, they will gain a clear understanding of the journey; they will understand the purpose of the journey; and they will realize the benefit of the successful ending; as indicated by Christ, when he said, It Is Finished; When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost (John 19:30). It is very important for the saved to see how far and from where God brought us (read Romans 5:12; Romans 5:15). Do you understand your beginning? Do you understand conditions in the beginning? Do you understand condition in your life today as the saved? Even more important, do you understand the consequences of not being saved? The author understands the biggest celebration of the Savior is during the Easter holiday; it is great, people dress their best, hide eggs, and much more; however, we should celebrate the Savior, every minute, every hour, and every day. Some people might think celebrating God every minute, every hour, and every day, is too much, and I understand, some people may not clearly interpret, how the Saviour is to be celebrated, and in this area, we need, and should desire, a more enlighten understanding of the celebration of Jesus; it is important that we dive deep into such relevent topic, but for the moment, consider you and life, one minute, one hour, or one day without, The Savior in your life. A Happy Life is every minute, every hour, and every day of life, in the hope that is concerning Jesus and The Cross He Carried. Happy Easter every day of your life!
The series is appropriately named, Concerning The Cross, because these lessons are intended to capture the full essence of the many things Jesus suffered on the journey to the cross, and while on the cross; it is also helpful to understand Jesus suffered more than we ever will in life, and he did it all for us. The sacrifice, made in the giving of the faultless life, yet guilty verdict, of Jesus, brought about the security of the believer; unlike Jesus, man was guilty (Romans 3:23; John 8:1-11). Man was not without fault, but in fact, he was found to be guilty, of disobedience to God, and the punishment is death (Romans 5:12). How is it that we have overome the verdict and the punishment of death to live life everlasting (John 3:16)? It is all determine to be Concerning The Cross of Jesus; The Death, the Burial, and His Resurrection.
Each of us could seek understanding in many places in the word. Jesus and the sermon on the mountain (Matthew chapter 5; chapter 6; chapter 7) provides some understanding of the Lord's purpose, as well as, provide important insight into the Lord's character, and what he faced from his birth to the cross. The study of the parable of the sower and the seed (Matthew 13; Mark 4; Luke 8), provides additional understanding about Jesus. The scripture is designed to help the reader and the believer become fruitful as required by God. As the reader learns more of him, he bringeth forth, The Good Fruit. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire (Matthew 3:10).
Many deceivers will come in Jesus name. The scripture is designed to help us understand how all things must be fulfilled; and it is necessary to learn for yourself; by learning for yourself, you won't easily be deceived. In Paul's letter to the Ephesians, he says, Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience (Ephesians 5:6). Jesus said, that many would come in his name. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. (Matthew 24:4) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (Matthew 24:5) But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be (Matthew 26:54)? The scripture is the teaching of God and the things we learn go deeper than our everyday understanding. The things Jesus taught, become a reality. And when it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at the doctrine (Matthew 7:28): For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes (Matthew 7:29).
Jesus is betrayed to be crucified. And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these saying, he said unto his disciples (Matthew 26:1), Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified (Matthew 26:2). And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, this man blasphemeth (Matthew 9:3). And when he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people (Matthew 26:47). Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast (Matthew 26:48). And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him (Matthew 26:49). And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him (Matthew 26:50). And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear (Matthew 26:51). Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword (Matthew 26:52). Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels (Matthew 26:53)? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be (Matthew 26:54)?
The greatest takeaway from the study concerning the cross is the undeniable mission of Jesus, the Christ. He came into the world and his sole purpose was to be crucified for the sins of the world. Jesus was betrayed by those he should have been able to trust; It is so important, that the student understand, the betrayal was not a mystery, nor was it a surprise Matthew17:28, Matthew 20:18 he said before it happen, that he would be betrayed by one that ate at the table with him Matthew 26:20-25. He allowed the betrayal, for the cause, and fulfillment of the prophesy. It was his destiny and ordained to be fulfilled. Jesus took a number of actions, but his focus never deviated away from his journey to the cross.
